Steamed Pudding Basin Remover Net
One of the items that I sell in my shop is a Steamed Pudding Remover Net, or the Steamed Pudding Lifter-Outer as we call it at home. It's a simple net that has been crocheted in strong cotton that you put your pudding bowl in before lowering it into the boiling water.
First, find the star in the middle of the net and centre your bowl upon this.
Use the drawstring handles to carefully lift your pudding and lower it into your pan of water. Arrange the handles so that they won't fall down the sides of the pan and steam the pudding according to your recipe.
When the pudding is ready, simply lift the net with the pudding out of the pan. Use tongs or a spoon to do this because the cotton absorbs the hot water. I didn't do this in the photos because I wasn't really steaming a pudding, I was just trying to give an idea of how the net can help with the job.
A simple idea that really works. I also use mine for home-made yoghurt which I incubate in my hay-box - no more spills! Woo-hoo! You can buy the Steamed Pudding Remover Net here.
