Written for the absolute beginner, and for people who want to move away from cans, jars and ready meals to real home-cooked food, Teach Yourself to Cook From Scratch Without Recipe Books aims to raise your confidence and knowledge in the kitchen. Starting you off slowly, and working initially with and alongside convenience foods, you will gradually progress to using all fresh ingredients. Beginning with a simple tube of tomato purée, you will be shown how to use your tastebuds to guide you through the steps needed to create delicious dips, soups and pour-over sauces. By the end of the book you will have made a variety of dishes, using no cans, tubes or jars, including simple versions of traditional meals such as Spaghetti Bolognese, Lasagne, and Cottage Pie. You will also have made biscuits, cakes, delicious Soda Breads and that classic favourite of modern TV chefs, Sourdough Bread. The more you learn, the more your confidence will grow, until you eventually find yourself improving and adapting recipes in books, pooh-poohing celebrity chefs, skipping whole aisles in the supermarket, and making your tastebuds leap for joy.

Teach Yourself to Cook From Scratch Without Recipe Books is a new way of learning to cook confidently and successfully.

"I know NOTHING about cooking other than my porridge needs 2 minutes every morning and my Iceland curry needs 3 stir then 3 more, thats it. I have NO idea about anything cooking. I can change a car engine, plaster the ceiling, grow almost any fruit and veg, rewire a house, plumb, paint, hang wallpaper, fix any computer issue and many more things, but I cannot cook for toffee.

After discovering Masterchef this year 2014 (brilliant!!), I am inspired to want to learn how to cook. Not follow a recipe book, I mean cook! look at the cupboard, fridge and invent something tasty using what I have or can pick from the garden. Have I got a clue what to do? NOPE, not one idea at all.

So I have booked myself on a three evening course to learn the basics, its a few months away. I want to do something now though. Having Kindle, its so easy and available on the phone, pc, tablet I wanted something on there to start me off. Then I found this book from Julie. Its cheap, I mean really good value, cheap is the wrong word sorry Julie!

I have read it completely in one go. I am impressed Julie! you just made this seem easy! I can do those things in your book I am sure!
I wanted to say thank you for this book, its started me off on the learning journey. You have given me a really good starting point with these skills under my belt, I 100% would suggest this book to any total beginner like me, it gives you the basic skills to get going with real things you can cook and enjoy, and... adapt into many different things if you want too, thats brilliant!!

PLEASE bring out the 2nd, 3rd and 4th books as soon as possible please!
Martyn"
